Kevin,
You are wrong, what Bill did was not illegal in any way. Period. It is also a lie that his listing said absolutely anything about how the stamps might used. Here is the listing

According to USPS it is illegal to reuse stamps, but selling used, un-cancelled stamps on ebay is not illegal nor is it against the rules. I concur that ethically it is questionable. At the time I discussed this with Bill, he concurred and removed the listing. Clearly his brain cancer, chemo, and urgency to not burden his family with the disposition of his stamp stuff was influencing his thinking.

Don,

Accept it as a compliment. Thank goodness someone recognizes and raises ethical issues in online sales. In doing so you will have to take the occasional arrow from those who view things only from a mercenary perspective. Let them have their cold, unjudged world. The rest of us are happy to strive for something higher,

Sooner or later someone will erase the signature in the back of these stamps and pass them off as genuine misperfs. At least there can be no assurance that someone won't. And that's why this is wrong.

Chris

It is possible that an old Rosback stroke perforator is being used to do this since there are several around and the perforations have a gauge measurement of close to perforation 12 (11.75).
