There is a postcard on the bulletin board in the Ipswich post office. It is soliciting help in finding the addressee. Turns out the postcard just arrived and is dated 1958 (3 cent Statue of Liberty stamp)! People on Facebook determined the recipient died last year. Apparently the mail still goes thru; albiet a little late.

Of course there is zero chance the card has actually been in the mail for 50+ years. This thing happens frequently as a "plant" creating a bit of sensationalism. Sounds like this one came from the estate and was conveniently remailed.

Family,

I have an update to my initial posting. It seems, indeed, the postcard was "lost" for 58 years. When it arrived in Ipswich on January 8, 2016. one of the postal clerks took it upon herself to find the addressee. She accomplished this using Facebook! The addressee died just last year. but her daughter (from Atlanta, Ga) confirmed that the postcard is a legitimate!

John Becker,

Now I am second guessing myself. Perhaps it "came from the estate and was conveniently re-mailed" as you suggested. Notice I said that "the addressee died just last year". So maybe you are correct! Interesting, as Spoke says.
