I would provide $$$ support to SCF and APS. I might also take a closer look at some stamp auction items where I have "want list".

rohumpy - I started thinking about what a "complete stamp collection" would be and I have a feeling it would take more than one lifetime. So I'd recommend investing in some good life extension research as part of the expense.

As of Wednesday morning, it's up to $1.5 Million.

If I win, I'm definitely buying a new pair of tongs !

Really, when I think about it, winning the Powerball would change my collecting drastically, and I don't mean just that I would fill every empty space in my albums. As I've said in other threads, a big part of collecting for me is the process of building my collection. The shopping, the bidding, the anticipation, the mounting, and of course the admiration of a completed set or page.

The areas I'm currently collecting, by and large, don't have unobtainable rarities or stamps in the six and seven figure range that might only be auctioned off once or twice in a generation. There are many stamps out of my current price range, to be sure, but they would be a pittance compared to the jackpot. In other words, just filling those spaces with any old copy wouldn't be much of a challenge, and one that I could probably complete within months. At that point, my entire collecting routine as it exists today - which probably occupies 20 hours a week or more of my time - would be nullified. I'd have to start collecting postal history, or only the very finest quality, etc. Otherwise it would get pretty boring pretty quickly. I'd probably attempt to collect the entire world to date, as I'd have the time, the money, and the inclination to do so.

It should be enough to finish up my USA MNH collection. It'll be close though.

Due to other people's requests for donations, you would first have to relocate and change your name. You'd have none of your existing friends and you would have to find all new ones. You would never be able to see your family again. You'd have to move to a different stamp board because we'd all hate you for not giving us any money (but I would at least miss you).

Bah! Give the money back.

With all that money, you could establish a charitable foundation to which all your relatives and friends could apply. The cost of hiring someone to disburse the funds would be well worth the peace you might obtain. All requests would be sent to the Executive Director. Let him handle your board members and all the hassles.
