I now own this book. If you'd like me to check on things for you, just let me know. I'm no expert on Irish stamps, but I'm happy to do a reasonable amount of research for SCF members.
Out of curiosity, does the catalog list Irish savings stamps? I see them from time to time on ebay (and have a few) but I haven't really tried to find any catalog listing.
KGB - thanks. Many countries had postal savings banks and/or postal savings systems at various points. I have a large gold-medal exhibit of the US system but have only played around with other jurisdictions.
Here is the table of contents: Introduction Great Britain Used in Ireland Forerunners Overprints Essays Definitives Commemorative & Special Issues Airmails Automatic Postage Labels Airmail Flight Covers Postage Dues Booklets Booklet Panes Postal Stationary and an Appendix that covers railway letter stamps, presentation packs, and exhibition souvenirs
j, while the Forerunners section is only two pages, it--and the Essays chapter of two pages--are perhaps the most interesting. More than 150 stamps and denominations are covered.
