Kingstonstamper, have you tried http://stampworld.com ? I can just barely see an overprint on that stamp, let alone make out what it says. And Guatemala has oodles of overprints! Maybe you can scan just the one stamp?

I can not either. Can you give us the text of the overprint? I can read the UN CENTAVO, but not getting anywhere with the two sides!

on stampworld, use the drop down menu, and look at "air tax stamps" it is shown there (#14), issued in 1941.

That stamp comes with a overprint that comes in two different shades of the value {UN CENTAVO} red overprint .It looks like it is a double overprint process .

What are you using for a catalog? The footnotes under Scott 235 list the various overprints and surcharges including RA17.

John it could be a chemical reaction from the soaking off from paper of that stamp ,until I see a specialized catalog I keep them together on my album page with a footnote of the color difference.

Floortrader, my fault, we were typing at the same time. My catalog question was directed to Kingston. I was curious because tracing from the basic stamp to the overprints seemde fairly direct in Scott, and was wondering if he was using a different catalog.
