I have located this stamp in the Scott catalogue and determined that it is Scott #43, however I do not know why there is a black border!

Was this put on by the stamp printer or after the fact? It looks like the postmark was placed after the black border! I understand that envelopes were bordered in black when they related to a death.

If this is an official version then does it have a different Scott number?

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

King Alexander I of Yugoslavia was assassinated October 9, 1934. The definitive set of stamps was overprinted with a black border to commemorate his death and issued October 17, 1934. Some other stamps were also overprinted with black borders. The whole set is shown on http://stampworld.com .
Oh, sorry, but I do not have a Scott catalog. I suppose there is a different set of numbers for these!

Thanks Peter.

Found it! It is Scott #105. I have changed the title of this post to reflect this change.
