Tonight I'm looking at the 6 volumes of the 2011 edition I received today. SG simplified stun by simplicity. No watermarks, no perforations and no papers difference. Of course no re-entries and rarest varieties. Simplicity at is best Someone who will make his own albums fallowing this catalog will have a very good representIon of all the stamps of the world in one only version. No more expensive watermark liquid.

If we collect the world we don't need all the varieties, what propose SG in the simplified is more then enough and quite simple. Nothing stop someone to get more specialized in a country or 2, but can he be specialized in all the world? I don't think so.

Very happy with it especially @ $65 for brand new books

That's not too shoddy a purchase for $65. I personally prefer the challenge of varieties (perfs., watermarks, shades etc.) because mt collecting ranges are a bit more specialised, but if simplicity is yr bag then the SG Simplified does exactly what it says on the tin. One small correction though. Watermark fluid isn't expensive. Ronsonol will set you back a couple of dollars.

area66, I'm in complete agreement with your approach. "Stunning simplicity"--I like that phrase. I have built and enjoyed specialized collections in the past, and I certainly understand their appeal. But I'm having a great time ignoring anything that can't be seen with my senior citizen eyes--watermarks, perforations, secret marks, etc. My Scott International 1840-1940 album takes much the same approach as the SG Simplified. Incidentally, several years ago I bought the 1989 edition of the Simplified--SG was able to get everything into two volumes back then.
