I came across a 10 centime Belgian stamp with the following overprint:

EST AFRICAIN ALLEMAND
OCCUPATION BELCE.
DUITSCH COST AFRIKA
BELCISCNE BEZETTING

I'm unable to locate the overprint in either albums or catalogs and thought you all might have an insight into it.

Thank you!

May I add........ The overprint obstructs the country name on the stamp. I got out the 10x lens and it looks like its a Belgian Congo stamp. Checking ebay I believe its a post WWI stamp for occupation of the Congo or ???
I'm unable to send a pic of the stamp, but the overprint is the main identifier.

German East Africa - Belgian Occupation.

That is the translation of the overprint, which you did not copy correctly. Some of the C's in there are either a G or an O. The overprint is in both French and Dutch which indeed indicates a Belgian stamp. Since you did not provide us with a picture it is hard to tell what exactly you have!

Mm44, if you go to http://stampworld.com and find Belgium you will see Belgian Occupation of German East Africa. You will find the stamps there.

Forgive my ignorance, but under what country (Scotts International) would this belong?

I just mentioned it in the post above! I don't know what Scott puts it under but Belgium seems a good bet

Thank you!
When I comes to occupation stamps, it is sometimes difficult (for me of course) to figure out where a stamp should reside. Generally it is the country being occupied (i.e. Japanese WWII occupation of various countries), but sometimes it doesn't seem like it should be that way.

Just depends on where you come from. I collect Japanese Occupation of the Dutch East Indies because I was from the Netherlands. But catalog wise they belong under Japan because they were the issuing country! Remember, when the US occupied Cube? Those stamps are under USA!
