Sad and strange. Why did Canada Post feel it needed a second bar code label? The one from Latvia should have been fine.

This is not pathetic, it's criminal. Have they not realised that envelopes have a back as well? Someone at Canada Post should check out ebay, as they may have brains for sale this weekend. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry at this idiocy.

The least they could have done was put the sticker on the back - plenty of room there.

I was about to object (different tracking systems for different folks) when I realized that the ID numbers are the same.

Cheers,

If it won't easily peel off... Can you fast orange the sticker off since it is self adhesive too? If stamps come off you could glue them back on after.

Crouse27, I will try something like that. I think the problem may be that the Orange has to pass through the stamps and the envelope. I will post the results.

Yes, removing things will be a tough problem. In this particular case, you might consider using lighter fluid. It is a bit more aggressive than the Orange. Just remember, the longer the self-stick material is left on, the tougher it will be to do any salvaging.

Well I did have success in saving the stamps. The Citrus freshener did not work, it just smudged the inkjet address. So I decided to try my lethal weapon, a.k.a acetone. I did it outside on the patio due to the acetone being flammable and having awful fumes.

I cut out the stamps and soaked the piece in a shallow dish. The ink came off the sticker completely and dissolved, but it peeled off quite easily. There appears to be no damage to the stamps or even the cancels!

They amazing thing about this cover is the postal rate, 1.63 Euros (Cdn 2.50). A registered/signed item sent from Latvia is very inexpensive. If I sent the same from Canada to Latvia it would cost whopping $17.50 registration plus $2.50 postage!!

I'm glad Latvijas Pasts hasn't caught on to the income they're losing out on. It makes shipping costs cheaper in this direction.
