tazzman30: have you checked on http://stampworld.com for it?

Loosely translated, the inscription is "protecting the children against the harm of Hansen's Disease (leprosy)." Padre Damian was a Catholic priest who worked with lepers on the Hawaiian island of Molokai in the 19th century. He contracted the disease and died from it, as I recall. It is an actual postage stamp; not a charity stamp; as "correio" is the Portuguese word for "post."

After posting, I see KGB and GeoffHa "beat me to it."

Here are some (poorly) scanned stamps from Brazil.

Any suggestions on scanning and photographing would be helpful.

Thanks.

(The"rainbow" effect is not on the actual stamp. It's from the scanner.)

Just as the OP did above is the best way in my humble opinion, scan stamps individually @ 1200 DPI on a black background. Then crop the area around the stamp to a little outside of the full perforations, this results in a nice scan and make seeing the details much easier.

paul, the first set are postage due stamps from the turn of the previous century. They look in pretty good shape.

I could only guess about the others without better scans.
