I was told this was an Armenian letter but I don't know. Maybe someone here does? The stamp could be Russian but I am not familiar in that area of stamps. Can anyone identify stamp and value? I inc a scan of the letter to in case it helps id the stamp. I think postmark is 1922 can anyone id the postmarks to? From where to where is this going? Thanks for the help
I believe this to be a Russian Stamp (Design A14 from 1909 - 1912 series) and Scott #75. The 2016 Cat value is minimum of $.25 for both used and unused.
From what I can see the Armenian stamps with that design/type would typically have an overprint on them.
Overprints on Russian stamps for Armenian mail makes sence so clearly the one I have is Russian. I've no idea though from where in Russia the letter was sent from or to.
there is in fact an Armenian "connection" in your document. It is a folded official document posted in 1922 from Moscow to Yerevan, Soviet Armenia (there appears to exist a faint arrival cds of Yerevan next to the red-violet seal).
During this inflationary period in Soviet Russia Imperial Arms were used revalued at the rate of 1 kopeck = 10.000 rubles (in 1922 currency). So your document is franked at 30.000 rubles, most probably a printed-matter official rate.
Such documents, presumably "liberated" from Armenian archives, are not rare, but still are quite interesting.
