Hi guys, I found this stamp hidden in one of my grandfathers old diaries, is there anything special about it? What's it's worth? *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Welcome to Stamp Community Family!
Your stamp is Bermuda #465(21Mar1985) in the Scott stamp catalog. It is the low denomination stamp in a set of 4 commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of James Audubon, a renowned ornithologist and painter. The 2016 Scott values the used stamp at 85¢ (US currency).
It's a great stamp to start a collection, and hope you will consider starting up a stamp collection. |

This is a stamp from 1985. As far as I know, there's nothing unique about it. |

Hi iAreTori, and welcome to this forum. You know, by itself this is just another stamp from some place. But you gave a very big clue in that you found it in one of your grandfathers old diaries. No disrespect or anything like it intended, but your grandpa may just have had a girlfriend there? Maybe going through the diary gives you a clue. Who knows, maybe he kept the stamp because it was on a letter from your grandmother! In that case it would be really special!

Hi guys. Thanks for the reply! Was just curious about it as it seemed forgotten about which is unlike my granpdpa, he's got over 2000 stamps in binders that're in mint condition, along with a few penny blacks. And thanks Pete, my grandpa never had a wandering eye; he was committed to one lady for 60 years! He'd regularly get stamps from other countries through the post.
As a child I loved to look at all the different pictures on the stamps and hear the stories so maybe I'll continue his collection for him, only problem is I have absolutely no idea what he's got and what he hasn't! |

I are Tori, Sounds like a brilliant plan, expand on your grandfather's collection. Lucky you What you do not know about stamps is normally straight forward to find in a stamp catalogs. And this forum is always friendly and helpful. We all hope you will find interest in collecting stamps Peter, I was thinking as you, something from your going grandfathers diary is special regardless.... |

Your comment ..."along with a few penny blacks." sounds good. A few good quality photos or scans would be nice to see as each Penny Black can be identifiable as coming from a particular printing plate which would affect any value to a greater or lesser extent. Condition is very important, of course, and the value of a Penny Black can range from a few pounds for a poor quality stamp to many hundreds of pounds for something nice.
edit: should you post any photos/scans of the Penny Black stamps you should start a new topic with "Penny Black" somewhere in the heading. That way you will get much more interest in your stamps. |

Pics would be nice. That way we would know whether what you have are the original "Penny Blacks", or simply "Penny Blacks" reproduced on modern stamps (i.e., stamps on stamps topicals).
Looking forward to seeing some of your pics! |

Just a thought... perhaps it was originally used as a bookmark. Just what's on them there pages of that diary you found it between?
