I guess that is why I don't collect new issues anymore.

Dear Mrs. Sak

The reason your husband buys the uncut press sheets is that he didn't want my wife to wonder why I was the only collector to have all 55 of them.

Regards, BlackJag

Dear Mrs. BlackJag

Think of all the roses and chocolates they could have bought us.

All the best. Sak

Funny Guys. I have maybe a dozen press sheets at the most, including duplicates. All Mrs Bee is concerned with is that I don`t hang them up in the living room.

I hate to suggest it but, with 55 sheets, one might consider it as wall paper!

I meant to post this awhile back but ran into too much work around the house.

I noticed while I was at one of the Postal Outlets at Shopper's Drug mart that there is a free booklet about the stamps. Probably out for a limited time so those of you who like this issue could look for this. It is a 32 page pamphlet - 16 English and 16 French and shows details of all the possible items that you can buy and a detailed story on each item.

I have some of these too, and the Star Trek ones, how do you store them? Do you leave them in the tube, or is there some type of special album for display and storage. I think they are great value, very well designed, but storage and display is a challenge.

I am a new member apologies if I am asking this in the wrong spot.

cheers

Aah Starlight! What a question!

There was a time, when they first came out, that I thought, since they would be rare, I would frame them. My wife allowed me to place the first three Chinese New Year sheets on the hallway wall. Then she asked, "So, how many of these are there going to be?"
Um... the answer was not 12, as we know, but 24 for just the New Year's. The number is 55, now.

Here's what it looks like now: (updated photo previous posted)

At the left are the sad four framed New Years press sheets, which cost more to frame than to buy (at the time).
I can't think of what Canada Post has in mind for them - other than for investment purposes. The USPS has a lot more than Canada, with both perforated and unperforated versions.
Those of us infected with the collector virus can't help ourselves. All I can say is thank God I don't collect USA.

One last note: it is instructive to find that many "press sheets" are not the real press sheets! Prove lies with the Titanic issue, where errors are found on the press sheets but none ever in the issued souvenir sheets that were cut from them.
(Hmmmm - unless the whole top row was thrown away...)
Has anyone ever seen a real press sheet that is different that the offered one?

I'm sorry that no one else answered your question, but, you see, it reveals a dark secret in the heart of every serious Canadian collector!

Thanks for the great answer, and insiders view of your press sheet storage solution......which looks a lot like mine......but yours are laying on the side

I think I might check out some art stores.......not that I am good at art by any means, but they must have some way of storing portfolios of work in an acid free clearly observable way. I will report back.

I just think it would be great to show these off, and as I am only allowed the basement hallway for my picture displaying,(and it is already full of clearly fantastic and widely appreciated aviation art) I need some sort of book for "big stamp things"

I am not sure if I have actually seen a real press sheet, just the ones for sale through CP, that is real keen observation about the titanic sheet.

Thanks very much
