I acquired a couple of bundles of the Canada Day S.S. and detected specking on the Ontario flag and on the PEI flag. It was not isolated. I found - quite quickly - a number of each of them on other sheets. Question: as the specking does not appear on ALL S.S. is it a "constant variety" - I think not - but what is it then?

Canadastamp, Wert must be flying around somewhere (kidding). I would say that these are not plate varieties by just looking at these two examples. I have similar items in my collection ( similar as far as the spot go, not the same stamps ) and they do not seem to be repeating. I believe they are just ink splatters caused by too much ink delivered to the plate, but that is just my thinking!

CanadaStamp, is that Newfoundland flag yours? I can see a yellow number to the left of the cross, "01919". I wonder what that is?

What Nfld flag? Do you mean the "variety" I've listed on ebay?
