OK Gentlemen, I have ran across these unusual stamps. They are purported to be the Chechen Republic first issue. They are not covered by Scott (At least in my books) This is what I have found on them;
In May, 1992 the order of the president of the self-proclaimed Republic Ichkeria D. Dudaev in the post circulation in territory of the Chechen Republic arrives a set of 5 imperforated stamps printed in Printing House of the enterprise for manufacture of baby food of Rostov on Don city on wrapping without glue paper in edition 270 thousand copies. The issue was printed in two variants: in 5 sheets of 25 values and in collective sheetlet of 5 sets with decorating top margin of sheet. Also is widely known the document signed by Dudaev in which exact date of official input in the circulation of 5 stamps - is specified on May, 31st, 1992.
The stamps had free circulation within 4 months then the order of Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation has been issued: #8470;319 from 17.09.92. It ordered to recognize the postage issue of the Chechen Republic by infringement of a prerogative of Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation under the edition of signs on post payment. Thereupon to the enterprises of the Russian Federation was forbidden to accept to transfer and delivery the items of mail paid by stamps of the Chechen Republic.
Now to my question; Are these legitimate stamps?
