Considering I'm using Standard Scott Catalog why is this stamp so expensive. Or is there an other version that I missed again lol. If it is C60 here's a picture for your enjoyment.(I hope it is cause I listed it on ebay)

Thank for the evaluation khj. I was kinda shocked when I seen it so I like getting the second opinion on some of my finds as I'm just getting into doing world stamps, as my main area as been Canada for so long.

From a set of 8 stamps issued September 1, 1934 for benefit of NATIONAL UNIVERSITY and commemorating the inauguration of President Cardenas. The reason it is more valuable is that only 2,500 were issued. Valid for postage for only 3 months. The plates were destroyed December 7, 1934.

Thank you barhata that is what I was looking for. 2500 is a low production number.

Production numbers for both sets is actually lower. From the catalog for Nick Follansbee's upcoming Mexico Sale #26 auction on June 18: "(Scott) 697-706, RA 13B (the regular postage issue). an unusually well centered set, 1,000 issued" (of the 10 peso high value). For the airmail set, C54-61, Follansbee offers "1,500 printed" (of the 20 peso high value).

Mexico is an incredibly complex philatelic entity with so many variations of the classic issues due to District overprints. While Portuguese colonies is my first collecting priority & interest, Mexico ranks #2. I'm fortunate to have both National University sets in my Mexico collection.

I was referencing the 1972 Sanabria World Airmail catalog which lists the following quantities printed for Scott catalog C54-C61:

C54 20c = 50,000 issued
C55 30c - 20,000 issued
C56 50c - 10,000 issued
C57 75c - 10,000 issued
C58 1P - 10,000 issued
C59 5P - 3,000 issued
C60 10P - 2,500 issued
C61 20P - 1,500 issued
