I'm trying to get info on the history of coils. I'm familiar with the U.S. development of coils, and found info on Peru 12 -- the world's first coil. But other info is proving elusive. Surely someone else between Peru in 1862 and the U.S. in 1908 developed coils? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You'll want to check out New Zealand and this publication - http://www.rpsnz.org.nz/index.php/o...ending-coils Stanley was a member of the Bowie Stamp Club in Maryland and I was able to see a number of his coil rarities before he and his stamps were lost in a tragic fire.
