Hi all,
I will try to keep it smart and simple, so couple of facts from the existing catalogs, followed by my theory and images to compare.

Facts from catalogs on 2k & 6k Russian Peasant imperforate stamp:
-2k MI 230I 1st issue 1923-11-15 & 6k MI 233I 1st issue 1923-10-11
-Imperforated
-Lithography
-both with no watermark
-Imperforated 2k & 6k 1st issue with watermark is 1925-01-01 called Greek Border and Rosettes #170

My fact & theory:
-both my stamps (2k&6k Peasant)has got cancelation dated 1924-01-23
-mistakes in philately aren't uncommon
-I see watermark on the 6k, hard to say the same about 2k stamp
-someone probably used the paper that was in stock (the cyrillic EZGB & wavy lines watermark #168)or maybe the one prepared for testing purposes on the 6k imperforated peasant stamp.

image 1 (my stamps front)
image 2 (Greek Border and Rosettes #170)
image 3 (cyrillic EZGB & wavy lines #168)
image 4 (my stamps back side)

But I could be wrong now, you decide...

Yes Robi13, you could be right. But you're going to have to do a whole lot better with the watermark - it must have dried up because there is not much to see. What did you use to wet the stamps?
And one other point. Please do not start another thread on the same subject. Not only is it wasteful, it does not serve any purpose and it is confusing when trying to find something.

Peter

Hi,
I wasn't able to update the last one so I had to start a new one. I used distilled water as you recommended, but it could be seen even without watering, just a bit playing with the view angle on black base.

I don't see any evidence of a watermark but it's very hard to tell from the scans.

The postmark is from a small town in Ukraine, Dzhuryn near Vinnitsiya, which was then in Podolia governorate (POD. on the postmark).

I don't see any watermark. Could you make a new post containing "marked" pics. In the pic, draw over what you think is the watermark. All I see is parts of the stamp design & cancel showing through, combined with paper toning.

Ok, I'm getting crazy from this stamp... |added another pic as KHJ asked me to send what I see... but its really difficult to do and its totally different when you have it in your hand... but you all know that. So the red arrows represent what I 100% see as watermark line (independent and not created by post marks crossing each other)basically it looks from 20-30 cm distance like a chemical formula (circles and lines connected) and creating object witch looks like a star or maybe flower or I don't know because nothing of that should be there, right?

Hi guys,
Have you had the chance to go through the last marked images I posted? What's you final verdict regarding the watermark?

Thanks a lot

For me, the stamp is just too creased and too stained to accurately determine whether or not you have a watermark based on your picture. I can't tell if what you marked is part of a watermark or areas of the stamp that are "less stained". You really need to use watermark fluid (or equivalent) and physically examine the stamp in fluid. Using water just won't suffice for a stamp in that condition.

Thank you khj, I will try today uv light or maybe night vision combined with uv light experiment and hope it will show the wmk in a better way,
Btw, in case I'm right and wmk is there, can give me an estimation concerning the rarity or value for the canceled 6k peasant block?

Thanks

Hi Petet4522,

I would like to ask you for help on this one, because I'm in a circle... I used UV & night vision and I saw it more clearly but it's impossible to take picture of it to post it :( so any other suggestions from you would be great.

Btw, did anybody in the past had a similar issue with peasant stamp?
To which experts or institution I can send the stamp so to get the yes or no regarding the wmk?

Thank you.

Robi, you live in Europe. You need to contact a local stamp club and find out about this stamp. We can not see a watermark, especially not since you do not use either lighter fluid or watermark fluid.
