I'm looking for someone out there to have a conformation copy of this unlisted double transfer on the E.B. Eddy die 1, Match Stamp. A normal printing of this stamp is on the right for comparison. On the left stamp with the variety note the dots showing above the dots of "E.B.", were not burnished out enough leaving faint areas of lack of ink above and a little to the right of the original dots. This direction of difference cooresponds to the pattern of the double transfer showing mainly in "INTER.REV." in the bottom label.

You can find these stamps on ebay but condition such as these are hard to come by most you will find are very faulty and when one nice one comes up you will have to deal with collectors such as I. Check on Eric Jackson's web site, he has a fantastic showing of all revenue stamps especially Match Stamps and he has several Eddy stamps and some in multiples.

Could you post higher-resolution scans? At first glance, the left stamp just appears to be poorly inked rather than a DT. Bart will chime in, I'm sure, as DTs on M&Ms is an area he focuses on.

A stamp printed from a plate with a double transfer shows bits of extra ink, not missing ink. So disregard the bits of missing ink. I see extra bits of ink in a few letters in the bottom label, so you may have something there.

The top is just a dry print. The bottom is interesting and might be a DT, but we would need a much higher resolution scan of that area of the stamp.

Rev and revenue collector its a double transfer. My specialty has been Official stamps and their plate varieties as well as First Issue Revenues and their plate varieties, now I only collect Match Stamps and their plate varieties. Since you don't like my phone pictures what equipment do you recommend that will give a picture you will both approve of for a collector?

I swear by the Epson Perfection V series of flatbed scanners. I use the now unavailable V500 for all of my scans. Epson sells factory refurbs of its successor, the V550, for $120.

Thanks for the info a 550 has been ordered-hope its easy to use!! Also, thanks for the site you sent me help with the Eddy stamp. I was able to make out some of the letters and it seems to be a persons name. I couldn't find out much information on the company only it was in New York.

I think you'll like the results of the V550. Another stamp board swears by the Canon Lide series of scanners, but I ran several models through their paces and found them to be inferior to the Epson. Where the Epson shines is surface detail, e.g., the paper fibres and layers of ink (see below). Assuming you aren't blowing out highlights you'll get excellent results.

The packaged scanning software is ok, but for the last 4 years I've been using Hamrick VueScan for all of my scanning. For the professional version, it's a one-time $89.95 cost with lifetime software updates. I use it as both a standalone scanning application as well as scanning into Adobe Photoshop (TWAIN does not exist for 64-bit applications, whereas VueScan is available as a native 64-bit application that integrates with Photoshop).

Try cranking down the sharpness and up the scan resolution to 1200dpi.

You are not alone JoNo. It took me a couple months to get large, high quality scans from my Canon scanner

I like that Bill Of Lading revenuecollector, nice illegal use.

I went to 1200, 0 contrast-I hope these are better. I see that black stamps much easier to scan than the reddish ones like the Eddy.

Definitely an improvement. Going in the right direction. The highlights (whitest areas) still look to be blown out a bit.
