Can anyone recognize this label, cinderella or revenue stamp? I found it amongst a Spanish revenue lot I bought, but it appears to be German in origin.
When a letter was undeliverable it was sent to an office ( Commission fur retourbriefe ) where it was opened to see if the sender could be identified. It was then sealed with one of the above stamps and returned to the sender. Used from about the 1870's to the early 1900's. If memory serves right these were the subject of an earlier thread.
