That depends on the glue.
Most stamps from most countries at most times bore WAG (Water-Activated Gum).
In the old days, some (most often young) collectors would lick the stamps and place them in their album.
Soak them in tepid water, the gum goes away, the stamps are fine.

https://www.stampcommunity.org/However, more recently (decade/two), most countries are using a form of PSA (Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive).
Simple soaking in tepid water will get you nowhere with PSA stamps, but there are solutions.

Try soaking in water, and report your results.
