Makanudo, what are you looking for?. The stamp you show is from a series that started in 1920, and looks to be the high value of the set.

I see the scan. The color is black. No green. Show the stamp to some other people in person and report back.
What color do you see in the scan? |

So do you and 2-3 other people see green with no scan and no computer monitor? |

To extract and see the color percentages in any stamp image (similar to Makanudo's post), you can upload the image on Stamp Smarter at this link http://www.stampsmarter.com/extractor_landing.html. Below is the image color percentage (with the border cropped out). Note how the colors are identified differently then the ones that Makanudo posted. If other folks did the same thing, using the original image posted and the same extractor tool, we will see why it is impossible use scanned images for color identification. Each of us is likely to get slightly different results. And while this is true it still assumes that the scanned image is accurately rendering true colors. Don Makanudo |

Don The image I first uploaded was my scan that I did improve with the autolevel function with my photo editor. For the sake of straightforwardness, I scanned again without using enhancements and ran stamp smart(which is one great tool and I thank them so much). I showed the stamp to my wife and she said greyish green, but then it occured to me to look under the loupe and I can say it is definately black. I guess against red it looks green. Thanks! |
