I just receive an email from Don Wainwright, the Unitrade 2017 will be available in September this year due to the fact that it will be printed in Canada instead of China.

I already reserve it

( I don't need a new copy every year, but I want to support.)

Printing stamp literature locally usually costs much more than doing it overseas. However, costs can come down depending on the quantity printed, whether colour is used or not and the quality of the paper used. It also helps with costs if there is advertising since advertisers pay for advertising.

The 2006 Unitrade Catalogue of Canadian Stamps was printed in China but designed and prepared in Canada. Suggested retail price was $47.95. I do not see how a Canadian printer can match that price at this time but if so, good for the Canadian printing Industry, which has suffered losses in the past 30 years. My father owned a Newspaper, was a Publisher-Editor and had a printing shop in Eastern Canada. My brother bought the business in the 80s and had to sell to the Giant Irving Group. Business had gone down significantly because of outsourcing. The Irvings own most newspapers in my Province, N.B.

I have an old 2006 Unitrade Catalogue and it
states "Designed, prepared and printed in Canada"

Are you referring perhaps to the 2016 catalogue?

Announcing the 2017 Unitrade Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps! Retailing at $48.95 this year, it will be available at the end of September! We will have it early this year because for the first time in over 10 years, it is being printed in Canada rather than China!"

Here the 2 labels of the 2016 , the 2012 show the same thing

The only thing important is the fact that it will be available before this year

Question. What advantages would you place on having a new Unitrade catalog? Who uses their evaluation? Everyone expects a discount from Scott or any other catalog. If I get a 50% discount off Unitrade, that is not any better (maybe worse)than buying at 30% of Scott. Maybe there are new varieties listed or some other details you won't find in Scott, but I have a 1992 Unitrade that serves my purposes well. Besides you can generally get a couple year old catalog off ebay for a significant discount. I wish the publishers well though. Wolf-==-
