Morning all,

Let's up the ante. How about collecting a commercial cover from each postal authority listed? It would be a nice addition to these pages if they included the beginning and ending dates of operation for each postal authority. Bonus addition would be a small map showing where each of these were located.

Seasons greetings to all!

Russ Ryle

Maybe I missed it somewhere in the previous 3 pages, but WHERE is this ASFE list of 780 entities? I'd sure like a look at it. Thanks in advance someone.

I believe that the links have been redacted by a moderator.

A Google search on"
ASFE = A Stamp From Everywhere slovakia

will find the website, on which there is a link to the list of 780 countries.

Gosh - collecting the first stamps of Bermuda, British Guiana and Mauritius is going to be an expensive business. But I do like the general stamp-per-country idea.

"How about collecting a commercial cover from each postal authority listed?"

As theory nice, but practically impossible. I know a few ASFE collectors who have been collecting covers (any, not even commercial ones) for 30 years, who spent over 100.000 USD, and still far behind "ordinary" ASFE stamp collectors, who spent 10 times less. It is similar to collecting Nr.1.

On the other hand, it would be possible with still existing stamps issuing entities. Simply order a few stamps from each stamp bureau and they will mail your purchase in a commercial cover.

Is there an existing list for classic-era ASFE? 1840-1940?

I like the stuff Peter {Valdpete} is doing to help the hobby . His ASFE Slovakian Club is a interesting part of it and the blog is educational and helpful to expand the idea of the club.

If anyone is looking to start a English version of his organization ,count me in . There is no reason that a separate heading under the STAMP COMMUNITY Board handle it as a separate topic and I am sure Peter can be our President . Count me in to support and post on that site .

As I am new in this Community, some of my first messages got edited by the staff. So they are rather strange as missing sense, now. I will try to explain in SCF acceptable terms.

Collecting one stamp from every stamp issuing entity is known as ASFE = A Stamp From Everywhere. I have a specialized club ASFE Slovakia. The link was edited, but simply to find.

On the site there is the 780 ASFE stamp issuing entities updated list, which is based on 780 entities as described in the 2 books in English I have published. The books originate from Czechoslovakia....I have updated the list.

There are also over 80 articles I have writtten on ASFE theory and many hard to find territories. They are in Slovak language, but translation is easy with translator, plus there are hundreds of scans, so easy to undertand. And you still have a chance to consult me, if needed.

ASFE collectors work with wanlists (or havelists), so that they can cooperate. My wantlist is published there, other wantlists are welcome. They are important, as the more wantlists we have, the more precise is the list of hard to find stamps. My articles are usually about them.

Cordoba is one of the hardest to find ASFE items from the original list, but not the top one. On the top there are Chorezm and postal Bokhara. Naturally the updated list is much harder to collect - there are Kotah, Tonk....to mention just a few ones discussed here.

And one important note - ASFE collectors collect also local stamps and BOB stamps, which are usually 99% of wantlists of advanced ASFE collectors. My favorites are Great Bitter Lake Associations (GBLA) stamps, about which I have opened a new topic.

You can take SUD PREUSSEN /SOUTH PRUSSIA off the list ,it was a separate country between 1793-1807 according to GOOGLE.

Your missing CENTRAL ALBANIA from your list of 780 ,they issued two types, a revenue stamp and a railroad "ticket" stamp that people used as postage and as money instead of just a R.R. ticket .The revenue stamps were overprinted with the Turkish suzerain and used as postage stamps .

Many years back I met a lawyer in Portland Oregon who had two collecting goals.

#1 Completely fill a Scott International Volume 1 with all of the correct stamps.
#2 Collect the first stamp from every country worldwide.

I've been told he eventually accomplished both goals.

I've sort of begun a set of album pages for one of each country (including occupations, regions, etc) and then one page for a cover from the primary country. Here is a sample with some cut and paste stamps and cover. I haven't tried to apply my own stamps to this album yet, just setting up the parameters. Maybe just something to stir up imaginations.

My goal for the ASFE collection is to have every stamp with a minimum catalog value of $10 so that it isn't filled with cheap looking stuff. Obviously any such stamps should be available for no more that a few dollars each at the most. Obviously some things like
Vancouver Island will be a bit of a problem.

Good Luck, Merry CHRISTmas, and Happy New Year.

Nice pages ,looks like a lot of work and would be of interest to both the stamp collector and general public .You could highlight Cambodia and Indo-China for those viewing your pages .

How about the first stamp from every country on cover.
Now, that would be an awesome collection.
