I was given a 3 volume Minkus US stamp album that is nearly complete through 1981. Mostly used with well placed fancy cancels for the early issues. My question is everything after Scott 300 or so is mint unused but unfortunately the previous owner stacked stamps 2 or 3deep in the crystal mounts and the albums came from Louisiana and all of the stacked stamps have self glued themselves together. There is a stack of Jenny's C1 and C2 and two baby zepps stuck together. all of the rarer stamps are used and not an issue.

Would it be worth the time and energy to separate them, dry, etc. or should I just toss them out? does anyone typically collect mint no gum post Scott #450 stamps?
Thank you,
Gil

The mint material can still be used for postage. The any higher value stuff, Jenny's C1 and C2 and two baby zeppelins could be sold as no gum stamps for a few dollars each. People who cannot afford copies with gum will fill in their collections with them. This is especially true if they are well centered.

Any other high value that you might have stuff is probably sell-able.

Or you could put the whole thing up on ebay as a lot. Then someone else can go to the time and energy to separate them, dry, etc

Use the search function toward the top of the page to find several threads discussing this issue. There are suggestions about how to separate the stamps that are stuck together. I would not destroy them. Even un-gummed there is some value. You might try Google for some help too.

I've simply soaked stamps in this state. Obviously, you lose value, but, as I'm chiefly interested in the image, rather than the adhesive, that didn't matter too much to me. But definitely don't throw them away!
