The Loch Ness Monster appears to have crossed the Atlantic Ocean and re-surfaced in Nova Scotia!

The monster is on the upper left stamp, featuring Sambro Lighthouse in Nova Scotia. The stamp is Scott No. 2249, in the booklet pane No. 2253a, issued Dec. 31, 2007.

Has anyone else sighted Nessie? Hopefully she is constant.

Nessie sightings are most common in NS after a good kitchen party ;-)

Checked all of my stamps - singles, booklets, die cut strip of 5 and OFDC - but no luck.

Normally, these ink smears are not constant.

Nice find. (being a "flyspecker" myself)

Blackjag, under closer magnification, it is not an ink smear. The cyan screen is missing in the monster shape.

BeeSee...I took a colour capture of the whitest part of Nessie and the border (original colour paper) and there is a bit of colour on Nessie..Trying to figure out what colour is left there.

Thanks Captain KirkS!

Wert, under a 30x scope, there is just magenta dots on Nessie. The cyan is missing.

How did the Loch Ness Monster get from a lake in Scotland to the Atlantic Ocean?

BeeSee - would that suggest that something was on the plate or paper when the cyan was being applied?

It could very well be Blackjag. I found this variety shortly after the booklets were issued. I had 5 with the variety (I gave two away). This of course does not necessarily mean they are constant, but there is a good chance. That Is why I hope more may turn up. Here is a scan of the last 3 all together.

BeeSee, your five booklet variety is similar to my first issue UNESCO booklet variety {posted earlier}, where a piece of paper from one booklet's position 4 $2.00 stamp created a green donut on itself above the two far right traffic lights and on the following eight booklets as well. The tenth booklet did not have it and I've never heard of any others. I donated one last year as a door prize at the 2015 Barrie Stamp Show and Bourse and still have the rest. I think that you will find that yours are the only five in existence. Great find and nice of you to give some away.
