Nice item! Looks like a poster stamp advertising the firm.

This was formed in 1893 and its business and assets were acquired around 1903 by "La société de la régie co-intéressée des tabacs de l'empire Ottoman" known as "Régie".

Thanks Nigel,
I'll post a polite heads up, to the vendor.

I know a lot of dealers employ "stamp identifiers"? (the correct phrase escapes me) in collating their stock for sale. Perhaps an innocent mistake.

Hi Rod,

Thanks for sharing so many interesting stamps with us!

I've just finished arranging my very sparse East Germany stamps so I'm looking for the next country.

You've inspired me to start sorting out my Turkey stamps. At the moment they're all over the place in different stockbooks.

I like the Ottoman stamps very much but I think I'll start with the Republic.

They should keep me busy for many weeks.

Nice words.
Thank you Nigel.

I imagined yourself, along with Michael, to have near perfect Turkey collections.

I have found Turkey lots of fun, and inexpensive thus far.
The script still mystifies me, and sadly, Postmarks will never mean much, unless in English.

I have recently spent over $100 US, for an early collection, to satisfy a few, very hard early issues. Hopefully I can re sell the remainder and recoup a little.
It has yet to arrive.
I have to go without buying any stamps then for a few months to get the budget back on track.

I bought 20 years of used Turkey on Minkus for $28

Singleton stamps, mint can still be had for circa 30c each, but you have to sniff around, Hipstamps can be cheap (and vastly expensive)

Revenues have gone gangbusters, I am only winning 1 in 10 bids, they often average $2 -$3 each.

My collection is Ok, but large gaps can be seen around the PTT overprints, and the Newspaper Opts.

Good luck with your re-start, if you need any Republic onwards, I may have duplicates, you can have for pennies.
