Hi Rod,

Here's a reference page of Munich "MUENCHEN B.U." (U with umlaut) postmarks from the fantastic German StampsX web site:

https://www.stampsx.com/ratgeber/st...suche_typ=K1

B.U. = Briefpost-Uebernahme = something like "letter post transfer"

For the record.

Eastern Rumelia

The stamps of the 1881 and 1884 designs list the name of the province in four languages – Turkish, French, Greek, and Bulgarian – using four alphabets – Arabic, Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic

Hi Rod,

Looking at the other postmarks on the stampsX page I think it's actually "von" rather than "vol" with some damage to the "n".

Thank you Geoff.

TURKEY : PERFINS

There are approximately 55 Perfin designs occurring on Turkey.

Many for the bigger companies, as shown here, appear in all countries stamps of the Levant post offices.

A fairly common PERFIN WBV naturally, mainly seen cancelled in the Austrian Levant PO.

Sc#241 1913 1 Piastre PERFIN WBV = Wiener Bank-Verein.

Note : The Puncture on this particular stamp, indicates a block of stamps was folded, prior to puncture.

WBV Perfin (Variety without periods)
