Watch out...Rod's on a posting rampage again....!

I'll only add one small point to Nigel's succinct explanation of the denomination names - that they were trying to accommodate several languages while also changing the alphabet. You'll see the word 'gurush' or 'ghurush' in various places - this is simply the english version of kurus or kurush.

On the 1926 London printing series, you'll see the word 'Grouch' actually printed on the stamps as the denomination! I do not know where this word came from - I have always assumed it was just a poor attempt at translating into english??

Very curious to see the rest of this infamous $1.93 lot - certainly seems it was a find for the ages?! Well worth it from just what you've shown so far...

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is a new area for me - just getting into that. (Assuming it will be a 'dead' country eventually??) Not sure it belongs in the Turkey thread - or deserving a separate thread of its own - and this question tracks nicely with the actual issues regarding this 'country' in real life...

MIssed the imperf - we must've been typing at the same time...

Of course it has value. It's a nice item. Bottom looks a bit ragged but top margin is awesome & a nice piece in any condition. Not a stamp you will see alot even as a single, so definitely it deserves a special place near the perforated cousins.

Been traveling for a few days - just saw the semi-postals - it is indeed the holy grail - really really nice! An awesome looking set - well done!

What do the backs look like? Mint? Hinged?? All the same?

A set worth keeping. You can be the caretaker for a while - no need to break it up...

There were only 6880 sets printed/possible. To have a full set in this condition is a major achievement & well worth keeping. Nicely done!

Glowing words...Thank you Michael. Trust you enjoyed your travels.
I have waited 7 years for those fellows. Ladies / Attaturk..

I paid $148 for the set, (32 bids) lower values Mint unmounted, original gum.

Higher Values hinged (I consider "very lightly" )

I hope to sell the short set I have for $50, making the set around $100
a tidy investment.

Here are the two top values, backsides, hinged. CV circa $300 if mint.

The set came from North America in a standard tiny envelope, insured, ..."Phew!"

Sc# B67 and B68

Here's an exhibit of British Post Offices in the Levant 1857-1923, which may be of interest if not already seen:

Great thread right here. I just acquired a large, semi-sorted worldwide accumulation/collection/hoard and have been busy sorting and identifying stamps of Turkey. This thread is of great help to me. I've only read about half the pages but have already identified several items I had set aside as unidentifiable.
I also may have a couple items with decent CV, but would love second opinions on identification.

Welcome to Turkey.
Post away, all enquiries tackled.

When a collection becomes over say 75% complete, it is fun to tackle the fringe areas. Like identifying the various overprint types of 1865.

Current prices for Women's Alliance , a difficult set to capture.
$520 seems unachievable, prices averaging around $320
