That's very helpful, thanks! That's were I had them at first, then I second guessed myself.

Thank you and thanks for the scans, I will keep them for reference.

Here's my humble start with Turkey. Still working on the eariler issues so I thought I'd show a complete page of President Inonu who seceded Ataturk as the second president of Turkey. Everyone like to see a completed page, right? Also made up a title page for the Turkey collection that will go at the beginning of the pages.

Rod: hope you don't mind me showing my 'humble beginnings' in this area (on Steiner pages).

-Chris

Hi Chris,
well, you blew my pages out of the water
Very nice work indeed.

Lovely pages, I do like the clear mounts.
Title page nice. (Nicely balanced..not overloaded with text)

10/10 Well done you.
All work welcomed here, gives new collectors of Turkey, to see new options / routes / standards of work.

Keep it up.

PS: Your work basically ensures the value of the collection will not reduce over time, just increase...money in the bank, and stamps preserved.

Mounts?
Are yours showguard split back? self adh? if not what gum /paste do you employ?

Thanks for the encouragement!

I generally use Hawid clear mounts (I have some clear Showgard mounts that I still need to use up and will use when I can. This page is all clear Hawid mounts. I like them because I don't need to have a zillion different sizes in stock...just get the largest size for the price and trim. I attach them using Elmer's "Craft Bond" Extra Strength glue stick - acid-free, photo safe, and nontoxic. Seems to work well holding the mounts. Pages will go into black Vario G binders.

Still playing around with the specific paper type I will use. Had been using cream colored "70lb paper" Looks good, but feels a little "light" with a page full of mounts. I also have 67lb cover stock (from Staples) that is thicker that I may try a few pages and see it that 'feels' better to me. Always a work in progress...which is a good thing and a bad thing

UPDATE: My Staples cover stock is just too stiff...feels like cardboard; I will stay with my current 70lb paper (Domtar Earthchoice Cream 70lb text).

Rod,

It's not exactly what you're looking for, but here's something similar.

Seen here on ebay for $1,000.

Rod,

Still not quite the same as the card you showed, but there are also a few maximum cards here on Delcampe.

Postmaster.
Far from it, that is very nice try indeed. Shows promise.

Argument: The stamp provides the exact orientation of the Tower, (seen from the shore) perhaps the background was taken from another photograph.
The 4 support staves for the staff are missing, perhaps left out.

Clue: The background shore, in the stamp, appears too close to the tower, to be genuine. (artistic licence)

The premise:

The Postcard:

Postmaster.

Delcampe's "Mosque of Omar" is fairly convincing.
The coloured postcard is a concern maybe.

Clue: even the shadow is drawn in (exact time of day) above "pulpit"

Sc#581 (Only exists overprinted)

Rod seems to be on a tear again! So naturally missed a few pages...

Hi Chris! Nice to see another Turkish collector! (And another American with a Turkish wife! Welcome to the club!)

Back to page 44:

The Liannos stamps look good, with the exception of the supposed 'used' one - which I would assume 99.999% fake...

You can count the legitimate used copies with just some fingers. Isfila does not even list a used 'value' for any of them...

Chris - both of your pictures are from the 1st Duloz series of 1865, as per Rod's Scott #s. The 1867 series was not regularly issued, and used copies are so rare that they don't even get a value in the catalogs.

Rod's #581 does indeed exist without an overprint - another 'non-issued' stamp - part of a series of unissued stamps. They are very rare & command big prices.

Leander tower is closer to the Asian side - if you took a picture from the Asian shore, that's the approximate picture/view you would have. But that picture would've been 'taken' with a serious zoom lens. so clearly some artistic license in play. I don't do postcards alot but I'll keep my eyes open...

And almost forgot - Chris - your pages are awesome! Very nicely done!

Thinking/trying to do this as well - for the first time. So a couple questions:

How did you make your pages? (What program?) And what happens after you mount the stamps - do you punch holes in the pages & put them in a binder??

Would love to see some more of your pages!

Thanks Michael for the kind words. The first title page was done using PowerPoint. The second page with the stamps is just a regular Steiner page. I did add some text by physically cutting and pasting it on the page. I have in the past converted Steiner's PDF pages into PowerPoint, which allows me to add any text, diagrams, photos I want to the page (you can find several of my examples on this and other stamp forums). I started out doing that for my worldwide collection and it was just too much work/time. But, I may go back to doing that just for my Turkey collection (still over 100 pages of Steiner just up to 1950!). I do 3-hole punch the pages and place in a black Vario G binder.

I'm post some for Turkey pages in the coming days.
