Thanks Blaamand!
Question to the Turkey experts here. Do you include the "offices in Turkey" stamps from other countries in your Turkey collection or keep them in the country of origin?

I organise my countries geographically and keep the foreign post office stamps with the host country.
For example I keep stamps used in both the Austrian and Italian Post Offices in Albania with Albania.
I keep my mint Austrian Post Offices in the Turkish Empire stamps (and most of the used ones) with Turkey.

(Not an expert) Turkey is my major collection, I choose to organise in just 1 collection. (currently 6 albums) If I ever choose to sell, you get the whole shebang, albums, catalogues, DVD Rom of every catalogued stamp and revenue. |

Lovely pages there Chris, I like the way you preserve selvedge, over possible visual order....sign of a philatelist. I try and do the same.
Good to see you didn't fall into the trap of the Ankara Sanatorium, Dernegi v Cemiyeti |

Wow - a whole new page - can't seem to keep up!
I consider many things to be part of my 'Turkey' collection - including all of the foreign offices abroad, plus Hatay; Cilicie; & Alexandretta. I've kinda drawn the line with the Arabian govt overprints, which I largely ignore.
In terms of where I 'keep' them - well - all over the place! I'm not organized enough as yet, so the foreign offices all live with each individual country in minkus supreme monster ww albums for now. Hoping to change that eventually!
I have separate pages for Hatay & Cilicie, which I keep in my main Turkey album, inserted at the proper dates.
The Turkish postal tax stamps are fun & lots of variety to keep one occupied. Rod's explanation is right on & you can adjust accordingly.
Just a quick addition to the various words:
Kizilay exists to this day - it is the Turkish Red Cross. They are very good & very active. You'll see them generally appear whenever there is an earthquake - they have lots of experience with earthquake rescue & they travel to help whenever a quake happens.
The words 'Dernegi' & 'Cemiyeti' are just semantics. Cemiyeti is not really used anymore, but roughly translates to 'society' as in 'The Philatelic Society' - an organization, but not an 'official' one. A 'Dernegi' is a more official, formal word - and means 'foundation' - this is for registered organizations that have specific legal & financial obligations. It is very much a word (and organizations) still in use today.

I just transferred the stamps from a collection I purchased that was on Minkus pages and didn't even pay attention. Live and learn. I'm sure it won't be the last time! Thanks for the clarification Rod. |

Wait till you get on to the Postage dues and the PTT overprints, they make your head hurt. Michael has (politely) corrected me on many occasions. |
