On the background of the UN Peace Dove, North Korea showed cheerful youth for the International Year of Youth 1985. Note Peace placards and crossed out A-bomb at lower right.

Doves are often seen as a decoration on New Zealand Christmas trees. But the dove depicted on this stamp is part of a larger stained-glass window at St Aidan's Anglican Church, Remuera, Auckland (The Sarah Selwyn window). Here the white Dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit.

In 2006 Singapore issued a double set of 4 stamps, designed in the style of stained-glass windows, commemorating important celebrations. The Peace Dove represented Christmas. One stamp is for local mail, the other for international mail.

Hi Kris,
more Picasso.

I have no idea if these have appeared prior.
The green stamp image is not mine.

Peace Race

Niuafo'ou is a small caldera island at the border between today and tomorrow. It belongs to the Tonga group of islands and lies close to the international dateline, making it one of the first islands to greet the new year. Mail was brought to passing ships in tin cans because there is no harbor to load and unload, now the island even has a small airstrip.

Tonga's beautiful flora and fauna stamps are popular among collectors. An acquaintance gave me a registered cover from the stamp section on Nuku'Alofa, On Her Majesty's Service, with official airmail Peace Doves (selfadhesive). Unfortunately I can't read the date. Rod, do you have any more information on these stamps? And thanks for adding the photo.
