Hello Kris,
only what Scott has to offer, first time I have seen these self adhesives.

Printed in rolls of 500, control number upper left hand corner.

to this image add 50s $2.50 and 75s at $3.75 (2009)

A very nice cover, Kris. A keeper.

Hi, Rod, Thanks for the info! Considering that the first US self-adhesive was the Peace Dove for Christmas 1974, I think it's amazing that Tonga put out self-adhesives that same year which did not stain and smudge. On my cover, mailed in August 75, the weather vane dove was canceled with "Pray for Peace" although these stamps were precanceled. By the way, this dove is seen from the back and the metal supports are slightly embossed.

Four different stamps arranged so that the green hearts look a bit like the four-leafed clover which is a sign of good luck. Wishes for the new year in several languages being delivered by Peace Doves. East Germany 1983.

Stamps for the International Youth Year (1985) often have a Peace Dove depicted with youth (or symbols thereof).

Only a few days ago the "Day of infamy", was commemorated for the 75th time. In 1991 Antigua & Barbuda issued a souvenir sheet with 10 stamps for that day in 1941. One stamp shows a Peace Dove.

The 'Dove' has a remarkable resemblance to the common white tern, native to the Hawaiian islands.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if more Peace Doves could bring more peace? Europa Peace and Freedom set of Guernsey 1995, designed by K. Bassford.

Pope Pius XI announced 1933 to be a Holy Year, also called Jubilee year, commemorating 1900 years after the Redemption. Holy years were begun in 1300 and are announced by the Pope for special occasions and ordinarily every 25 years, so the one that ended last November in the name of mercy and forgiveness was a special one initiated by Pope Francis. Twelve Doves decorate the cross in the Italian charity stamp of 1933.

Ghana, marked by a small star in Africa, issued a souvenir sheet for the International Year of Peace. The dove sits on a plow: From Isiah - "and they shall beat their swords into plowshares"

Iran issued a stamp with a Peace Dove for the International Day of Peace in 1987. I'm not sure if its eye has something like a map in it.

In 1994 Ireland commemorated the life of one of its heroes. "Seán MacBride (1904-1988) received the Peace Prize for his efforts on behalf of human rights, among other things as one of the founders of Amnesty International. In 1974 he was also Chairman of the International Peace Bureau and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, and had recently been elected UN Commissioner for Namibia. He played a leading part in the establishment of the Council of Europe, and in the preparation of the European Convention on Human Rights of 1950." Citation from the home page of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Among the many stamps that Norway issued to commemorate 100 years of Nobel Peace Prizes is the one featuring Martin Luther King, jr. Ten overlapping silhouettes of Peace Doves can be seen to his right. (Today is the official Martin Luther King, jr. Day, 2017)

Hi Kris,
no exhibit, just working on my Poland collection this month.

I employ Scott naming conventions, but since this thread of yours, was adding "dove"
to the sets that promote and use the word "peace"
Picasa filter, offered up those 21

One has to be cognisant of the images of pigeons used as an allegory of speedy mail delivery.

Yet Google offered up this:

Doves typically have smaller bodies and bigger tails than pigeons. But there is an exception: the domestic pigeon, which is often called a rock dove and also known as the "dove of peace." Pigeons and doves belong to the same family, Columbidae, and have many similar features.

I am amazed you seem to have an endless supply..........

Hi Rod, Thanks for the comments. Of course I am aware that the words Dove and Pigeon are used in different contexts. That's why I suggested that diverse real pigeon species and those that serve as symbols of speedy mail delivery could flock to another thread. I have found that Peace Doves are usually, but not always, white and are often depicted with a minimum of ornithological accuracy. But even the most abstract ones are easily recognized. Those that live here on this thread are the best evidence. By the way, your own Polish ones of late December aren't yet in your flock - and do you know this one? World Peace Council in Warsaw.
