The Ethiopian Peace Dove has most unusual contours, as does the smaller green one in the upper right-hand corner logo. The 9th anniversary of the revolution, 1983. The civil war began in 1974 - the imperial family was ousted. There was no peace till 1991.  (Rod, You're right, it must be a bajonet. K.) |

An Angolan Dove and a rainbow call for peace and reconciliation (2002). The Angolan Civil War was a major conflict in Angola, beginning in 1975 and continuing until 2002. It began immediately after Angola became independent from Portugal. Prior to that, the Angolan War of Independence (1961–74), had taken place.  |
