Hi guys..Take a look at this stamp on the left..I scanned it and took a picture of it..Now I don;t know what a 37b or 37d really looks like, but the colour is odd. Robert

Hi Robert. Here is my take. As Don has always said, the image depends on the scanner and the viewers monitor.
Forget the photo. From what I see on my monitor on your scan, the right is an obvious #41 (bright vermillion). The flag cancel which was used in the late 90's confirms it. The left is a late Montreal printing of #37, as the Feb 1988 date would indicate. The shade is hard to say, because it may have some oxidization. If no oxidation it is probably rather late usage of a dull red. But my thought if you give it a bit of peroxide it may become more orange.

Also, the stamp on the left cannot be perf. 12.5, it is the same as the perf 12.0 on the right. |

Hutin, on my monitor yours looks more Rose than Copper red. I don't doubt that it is copper red, it just goes to show how inaccurate colours are on the internet. |

Robert, I still do not have a grip on what the "copper red" or "indian red" shade looks like. I have never seen one "live", only scans, and they all seem different to me. Hutin, (or anyone else) if you also have the rose, orange-red and dull red shades, would you be able to scan them all together? That would at least help visually to see the difference. |
