Require a close up of the tiny hut and any designs therein.
Heron : often seen in Japanese designs.
Could be a Product ID label or a Quality label. Cigar Band?
1881 poss refers to the Company's inception.

Tangential queries, may be philatelically........

When did Gold first appear on Labels.
See pigment Gamboge (yellow gold fr Cambodia)

When did the first gold on a postage stamp appear? (Immitation or otherwise)

Since Edet was owned by SCA from 1929,
perhaps you may conclude your label was pre 1929.

This reminds me of the soccer club badges which were put out in the 70s by the petrol station, ESSO: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qs2X4ALR6...2Bbadges.jpg

And the imagery also seems to fit along those lines - looks like there could be a ball, maybe a cricket ball next to the bird?

SCA / Edet look like they had offices overseas, in many countries.
I still hanker after the imagery as having a Japanese influence.
Their big line was toilet paper.
