At one time this was a very active group:

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups...ampclub/info

As recently as a couple years back there was a lot of activity. Now like so many of these things, it is like a ghost town. I wonder if it had more to do with the Yahoo venue than anything else.

Anyone know of good online discussion group centering on US collecting? Yeah I know there's this one- but am looking for any others.

I think sites like this one and other forums just replaced the older sites as support and membership for older sites dwindled. Remember rec.collecting.stamps or rec.collecting.stamps.marketplace? Probably most people don't, but they were the first general online discussion sites for stamps. Changes in social media reshapes which sites get the traffic. There are numerous Facebook groups for stamps and one can always create another that my attract members.

Agreed. Yahoo Groups was an early place for discussions back in the dark ages of the internet, but I'm not many people go there much today. It's a bit odd, though, isn't it that no one tells you these things. You just have to see some websites declining and hope you can locate the new ones that are rising. It's almost like there needs to be a website with this sort of information that you could check from time to time -- Best (or most trafficked) website for ___ or ___.

Another one of my hobbies is model railroading. There has been a significant, and I mean significant, decline in the usage of Yahoo Groups. Sometimes, it is days between postings.

Yahoo was popular because it was inexpensive / free to create. I find the yahoo web interface annoying compared to a discussion board.

The downward spiral began a few years ago when they changed format. I don't know why they did it and I still can't completely figure it out.

Everyone has now learned that Yahoo has been colluding with the government to allow them to illegally spy on you without a court order. Verizon is now trying to find a way to pull out of it's deal to buy Yahoo.

The vultures and circling...
