I recently completed the mundane task of updating my Machin Adminware Album pages. Robin updates every three months or so and that requires adding and replacing 6-8 pages each time. Then you have to transfer the stamps to the new pages. It becomes a nightmare if you let it go too long. Easier to stay fairly current.

Speaking of Machins, I am still doing mockups of page layouts for custom pages.

Angore,
numbers.
I remember you were looking for a clean test set of the X and Y machins. You wrote away to someone and never heard back.

Well, I found such a vendor and have ordered and received complete sets of the X and Y machins. They came in a nicely bound stockbook and each stamp was labelled with the Deegam profiles, including SG numbers. It was somewhat pricey but all the stamps were MNH. The vendor is Bill Stokes with an ebay handle called triggs184.

I soaked the paper off of some stamps that are now drying, and made a fun cover for my stock book.

Last Wednesday I went to the local stamp club's Christmas social, a dessert potluck with a gift exchange (under $10, did not have to be a philatelic item). The majority of the gifts were food items and I had brought cheese and chocolate myself, being uncertain as to what would be good as my first time at this event.

I ended up with this set of Russian stamps (CTO'S yes, but very cool).

I am back to creating Steiner variants for my GB Wildings.

Unfortunately, I just finished a page with all stamps mounted and now want to redo it. Scott does not list minor varieties and Steiner does provides a few more but I am following closer to SG to include the common watermark varieties from booklets.

I have been de-bulking an old pile of personal paperwork (invoices, receipts, statements) and re-piling some hobby stuff (journals, catalogs, etc).

As I tossed the 2019 Guide to Medicare towards the trash, some long-dried Pure-Citrus'd PSA stamps fell out, including one that was to be the seed for a thread ... until it went missing.

My apologies to Ms Freedom.

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

This month, other than keeping up with philatelic reading, added recently acquired used copies of US 241 and 292 to the North America album. Added an upgraded mint copy of Canada #65 to the same album. Working on stamps to go to the APS Stampstore before the end of the year; and a big stack of single country manila folders of album pages to go to the Ricky Mountain Philatelic Library on January 3; all as part of my downsizing & disposal of most non-specialty material.

Next few days, will be re-doing early pages of Angola & Cape Verde. Will be mounting postal history items from Macau. And beginning work on re-organizing Poland, with lots of new stuff to figure out and assimilate, from 1860 to early 1970s.

Received two APS sales circuits within a day of each other right after Christmas. Made a few purchases. This is one: Niger Coast Protectorate (Oil Rivers Protectorate) Scott 1. Bonny River postmark.

This is something I did deltiologically rather than philatelically, but I spent 6½ hours on Saturday at the Vintage Paper Fair in San Francisco, rummaging through thousands of picture postcards. It was the most productive day I've ever had at that show, as I ended up buying a total of 106 postcards for a paltry $44. 84 of the cards were only 25 cents each, and I didn't buy anything priced over $3. It was a good birthday present for myself.

The overwhelming majority of the cards are of relatively recent vintage, 1970s or later; I'd say only four are from before World War I. Only two of the cards that I bought at the show have been postally used, and one of those is my only new addition to my Esperanto collection.

There is also some postal stationery in the mix: Two different sets of Chinese postal cards depicting the cute mascots of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Al,
I once dated a lass with a lovely sense of humour, she would, on the rare occasion, caution me that a certain person was a "Peck's Paste job"

Peck's paste, was a local fish spread for sandwiches
ergo "Nice in small doses"

I consider organising and cataloguing Machins, is a "Peck's paste job"
