I have one of those old green hard-covered National US stamp albums (the kind that are held together with the two square posts). I am trying to open up the binder posts so that I may take the pages out without ripping them. I can't figure out how to do it! I read the excellent album reviews by Rileysan and others, and they don't mention the ability to open up the National, so I am thinking maybe you can't.

But then how did people add supplement pages? Does anyone know how to do this?

I attach some pictures of this bad boy.

Thanks.

Look at the top of the spine or bottom. You will see a thick wire with a right angle bend in it. Or you may see only a short segment which is the bent part. Pull straight out. This is the retaining wire. Removing it releases the posts from the binder covers.
