Bob of many G's Swabbie and other German collectors maybe you can help me here. One of the young kids I took to NAPEX has become very interested in German stamps and is very actively and enthusiasticly growing his collection. What would be a good beginning album for someone in this area? WWII and forward? If I can get some good info and sources I will try to procure one for him

Thanks

Rick, what I use is a second hand..or third hand Scott Specialized that someone gave me..its no beauty..but I believe the young person can pick one up rather inexpensively....

I also use a series of Scott Specialized albums for my German collection. To be honest, I've never even looked at other German albums. Hmmmmm.

How specialized is he at this point? Is he just in the "one of each design" stage?

My suggestion is to find someone who maybe has the Harris (or whatever) pages for Germany from a collection tear-down. These will likely only go so far, time-wise, though, and it will probably require the instruction and use of a catalogue to get up to current, as well as the use of blank pages.

Eventually, these pre-printed pages will become nothing more than a kind of roadmap as different varieties are picked up and blank pages see wider use in expansion.

he is doing well with the catalogue, Pages from a Germany tear down would work great for him right now. He does seem pretty committed to collecting German stamps. He seems very interested in the isues around WWII time frame.

Rick... I would go with the Steiner album pages... Just print out the years you want... Paper, three hole punch and a binder, and you are ready to go..

Try not to concentrate on the modern German semi-postals...Too expensive

I can email you a PDF file, like I did for Guatemala
