Here's an example of how gum from a wet printed stamp on the left side stamp margin selvage looks like since it does not cover the paper fully since it was added after printing. This is typical of the sheet-fed wet printed Canada stamps from 1926 and before, especially the Admiral stamps before dry ptinting in 1922. Other clues are the cleaner cut slightly larger hole perforations from 1912 onwards, Type B plate layout with no straight edges for stamps but only in margins from 1911 to 1914, thickness of paper, etc. : |

I'm sure I can resolve the question of how much a "Label" or perforated non-stamp is worth. This stamp has a Unitrade value of $1.00 And this "pair" has a value of $5.00 The part in the middle must be worth: $5 - (2 x $1) = $3. More than the stamp itself! QED |

You can't infer the value of a separated label from the price of the pair with label. The reason the pair with label is worth more is because its a complete intact multiple with se-tenant label. The label by itself would be worth very little if anything, certainly not $3.
This label might have some minimal value to someone as a separate item, because it actually has something printed on it. I doubt the blank piece of selvedge in the OP would have any value. |

It seems that the blank labels are as valuable as the salvage on the edge of a sheet: It adds to the value of a stamp attached to it, but is worthless on its own. |

Well... In 1998 (which one might dare call the year of the Label/Tab/Non-stamp) there were many issues that might qualify. Sir WIlliam Mulock #1722 According to the authority of 2017 Unitrade Catalogue the Crown is worth $2 - $1 = $1. Sumo Canada Basho #1723-4 The "tabs" are worth $2.50 - ($2 x $1) / 4 = $0.125 each. RCMP - 125th Anniversary #1736-7 The tab is worth $2.00 - (2 x $0.90) = $0.20. (Note: all these are perforated on all four sides.) Incidentally, the latest non-stamp is |

The above tabs have no value, inasmuch as they are not perforated on all four sides. |
