I had a sudden uptick of sales on HipStamp this week. Maybe marketing there is getting more effective. Except for the extra time to manually process orders, selling on HipStamp is a bit less expensive than
ebay but automation is lacking. Because
ebay listings are uploaded to
ebay by the SixBit eCommerce solution,
ebay Sync, provided by HipStamp efficiently clones
ebay fixed price listings. Now that my
ebay stamp auctions have dwindled, my
ebay stamp listings all appear on HipStamp. Listings end after 30 days providing an opportunity to adjust pricing with a SQL Server query. The process takes only a few minutes with no need to put with
ebay web site hassles. I don't even know what the HipStamp submit process looks like because I never use and don't plan to. It has been more than fifteen years since I last used the
ebay web site to submit a new listing.
I prefer HipStamp because I have more shipping flexibility, but now that the price of tracking is so high, mailings below a threshold value are no longer sent with tracking on
ebay. The price has effectively doubled in five years if stamps are used. The gap between stamps and computer labels has increased so much that stamps are 34% more expensive, meaning that buying at 74% of face is the breakeven point. Will US postage plummet in value like the UN did?
