I have a rather large amount of classic Italy and all the associated states, occupations, colonies etc. They are mostly in old paper envelopes that appear have not been opened since the 1940s to early 50s. Unfortunately (or fortunately as the case may be) many of them are mint but have become stuck together over the course of time. I have a bottle of Super Safe stamp lift fluid. Is that a good means of separating these? If not is there a good way to save these? Many of them have significant value. The attached photo is just one example of many. There are at least 30 blocks of 8 - 6 - and four in this one envelope.

Thanks Peter - great guidance for a newby. Think I will try the freezing method first as it sounds like a possibility for keeping the gum.

Freezing is one method and sweating (steam) is another. But the best way in my opinion is to soak them.

Soaking will work - I've done it (but not on stamps that were very valuable). You could lose some/all of the gum

THANK YOU JACK!
WOW! Put the stamps in the above picture in the freezer for a few hours. THEY ALL SEPARATED! Only a couple of the blocks of eight have minor ink on the back.
