I am hesitant to post, since I seem to get belittled every time I post. I am a new and yet excited about accuracy in my new book. I have a stamp from my collection I am trying to identify- I am assuming it's a newspaper stamp, but cant find country. Any help would be appreciated.

Please don't feel that way.
Post with confidence, humility and respect, and we the moderators, will call out those that reply inappropriately.

Your stamps are "Mutilated Stationery" aka "Cut Squares"
Persons have cut with scissors, parts of Postal Stationery.

Your oblong Queen Victoria is from a Great Britain Newspaper wrapper
Your squarish one, is from a postcard or lettercard,
specialists here may be able to identify

Mutilated Stationery has come of age, and is getting huge prices in Australia
A page of Tasmania recently knocked down at $30

Yours however are fairly common, millions of Newspapers were posted in England. (But, can be great sources of Postmark examples of Great Britain)

What you may wish to do, now that they have been identified
is to change your thread title to something more helpful for others.

example : GB: Newspaper wrapper cut squares ( or similar title)

Hello limedieros. Don't know who is belittling you, but don't let it get you down. Some folks have a hard time remembering that this is just a hobby, and these are just pieces of paper.
That said, these look like postal stationary to me. Cut outs from preprinted cards or envelopes. Not a Brit collector so don't know where you'd look these up, but I'm sure some of our local experts can steer you right, without too much mockery.

...ha! See? I took too long in typing, and already Rod has proved me right.

I'm new too and I also got attacked when I first started posting here. Advice people sent me was to ignore these type of individuals as they are plentiful on the here. If you're younger like me, you will notice a huge generation gap also. People on here have a ton of knowledge because they have been collecting for decades and they don't seem to realize what is common knowledge to everyone of their generation is totally knew to us younger folks. It seems most people on here have no tolerance for people from a younger generation unless you're a child. You'll get people quickly responding telling you to go to a library to find your answer or to buy a book.

In September there was a thread called 'confusing to a beginner?' which asked for peoples input. My input was:

"I'm a beginner (or even a pre-beginner) and I would say its more misleading than confusing. Looking at it I just assumed it is as it's labeled as someone more knowledgeable than me labeled it. It took me awhile to realize the stamp isn't China related at all, but that is because of other peoples comments about the plastic envelope being reused."

In less than two hours someone's response to me was:

"If this is confusing to a beginner, then perhaps he's chosen the wrong hobby."

And then you will see posts of people complaining they don't understand why new people coming on the board and asking a question or two never come back.

Try to stay and ask your questions, there are some great people on here. You just have to learn to turn a deaf ear to the negative people.

Thank you all for your help - and I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I have recently started putting an album together from some stamps my grandparents had. I am just trying to put these on their correct country page. I am surprised how much I am really enjoying this. Great way to get a good history lesson! The queens look more like the ones you see on Canada stamps, than the Great Britain. I think they look like newspaper stamps - I'll keep searching.

The rules do not allow personal attacks and to keep a family atmosphere. I reviewed the threads and see nothing that breaks any of the forum rules.

If anyone feels like they are being attacked or bullied they should ask the Mods for help.

Don,

I don't feel attacked or bullied in anyway - it was more of snide comments that discourage asking for help is all. Not directed at me, but about me on my post. Nothing serious, at least not on my post. But have seen this on other people's posts as well.
