I was cataloging some stamps and noticed a flaw in the upper right border. The first stamp is clear, second image has the flaw. Is this identified in any catalog's? Your thoughts are appreciated as always.

Nice find.

Nothing similar in my 60 or so, "Crescent" issues.

Hard to explain.
Printed typography, so a damaged plate would suggest a break in the design / ink,
not a divergence, or bent like yours.
Hopefully, a wiser head can chip in.

Suggestion.

Your top stamp is perforated 13.68 x 13.91 so printed maybe February 1884 (Rose Pink?)

Your damaged stamp is perforated 11.58 x 11.30 printed maybe July 1884 (Carmine)

The stamps of this series are filled with printing issues. Notice the over-inking/'ink dots' on the right borders of the top stamp.

That said, a nice find! I have a specialized cat of this series - it mentions lots of printing/color/paper varieties but no mention of plate flaws at all.

Top stamp is from May 1884; bottom stamp is July 1884.

One example for comparison: (similar flaw on lower right, about 3/4 down)

Nice find! I have a few early Iceland with dented and damaged frames like this. They don't get a mention in any of the specialist catalogues except AFA. I'm sure that a Turkey study group will be able to help you, especially as you have a high quality scanned image.

Here's one I've just found who cover Ottoman empire and similar area. They seem to be US-based (not that this, matters too much these days with the Internet) and are APS affiliated.
