Kind felt a tad petty to begin with,
but now I have an idea of what is going on, all is good.
If not already explained in the catalogues preamble,
I think it should be.
I think I'll begin to organise a GK stamp pocket, with examples of 11.5 11.8 and other Known odd guages.

My stamp is comb.

Not sure if I have thought it through, but may make a difference.

You are correct! Postage dues were a different size and so single-line perf machines were used, comb perforators on the smaller (regular) issues.

Perforations 101 Australia
From notes jotted down from Aust Link, (Now Lost)

Perforation guaging designed by Jacques Legrand of Paris 1866
(Number of holes in 2cm long)

Aust advised best measurement 16 holes to the inch (Approx Perf 11)

Measurements: Begin at bottom axis, and thence rotate clockwise
Hypothetical 12 x 14 x 12 x 14 (P12x14)
Triangular stanp 12 x 13 x 14 etc

Where opposite sides of a satamp are not the same guage,
they are referred to as "mixed perfs"

Australia has never had mixed perfs (Australian Colonies DID so )

Your PP in barred diamond is the right half of a Melbourne duplex Parcel Post cancel.
Information from the PPA site (Phoenix Auctions) from a few years ago had the early date as February 1887 and LRD as February 1907 but I have a datestamp (left half of the duplex) from 1910.

Also known in violet.
