Quote: Can / would any specialists confirm my appraisal please?
Sc#28 "Pale Red" 0028 1922 02p pale red BW 95-8e electro 8 thin two pence $100ea It certainly looks like the "thin Two Pence" in ACSC, per the following: The words fade in and out at exactly the same places as your examples, which also show the same diagonal line of dots just to the top and left of the final "E". The only problem I can see in identification is that ACSC says this variety exists at a single position on electro 8, namely 8R32. That is not to say are not both the same variety. Assigning a position seems to be more of an art than a science and there are many varieties for which the position is still undetermined. Perhaps, even after all these years, the adjacent position's variety has been just assumed to be 8R32. On the other hand, looking at my copies of the 2d red, the shading lines are all well defined on both sides of "TWO PENCE", so another explanation could be that the stamp was over-inked and only the wider cuts made it through the printing process. Finally, is this BW 95 in your catalogue? In mine, it is BW 96, 95 being the earlier orange issue. |

Quote: Sc#31a 1914 Yellow? CV: $120 / $30 Postmark CV circa $5 2nd Wmk KGV Putting on my purist hat for the moment, are these postmarked postally-used stamps or non-postal cancelled stamps. I remember the Money Orders back in the old UK where they came in certain denominations and were made up to the required value by affixing stamps which were then tied to the M.O. by the cancellation.. |

Hi Frank. thanks for your contributions. I have BW 2007 Quote: Finally, is this BW 95 in your catalogue? In mine, it is BW 96, 95 being the earlier orange issue.
It is both Frank, they are both identified now, Cat listing reads 95,96 (8) e It also lists the rounded top of crown with an image. (I am just learning how to read BW, I have put off sorting my KG5 for 10 years or so) Quote: Putting on my purist hat for the moment, are these postmarked postally-used stamps or non-postal cancelled stamps. They are genuine, postally used stamps. Googling M.O. & S.B gives many auction listing with stamps on piece. (without images) I need to search just how these hammer impressions were used though, were they adhered to the Money Order slip, and cancelled? or what? |

Nothing much happening today or yesterday, so here's something going back to rod222's post of of Jan 18 2017 regarding the loss of the cross on the crown on the KGV sideface. Here are two of my examples of this constant electro variety: This seems to have been a rather vulnerable area of the electro as it also exists with other flaws: Sorry about the scan quality. I've been playing around a bit with how I create these. |

Quote: 1927 Personal Page 7A. Rod: This goes back a bit to a post you made on page 11 of this topic. It's a shame the way stamps from the 1930s crinkle and tone. Here is my complete set of plate blocks of the Kingford Smith 2d from the 1931 issue, with similar woes. I do have a single stamp from the 1935 Silver Jubilee set which has made it through relatively unscathed. |

Hello Frank. Thanks for your contributions, very much welcomed, as I am currently working on my KGV issues, not bothered about varieties just yet, just getting the sidefaces organised, I am over 500 stamps of the 2d red alone. I'll have to have a separate album just for duplicates of the KG sideface. Hope your scans get sorted, I like the crisp definition, I scan at 600 dpi on a sideface, which results in about a 240Kb image, fine for here. Quote: It's a shame the way stamps from the 1930s crinkle and tone. I used that type of damage, to excuse my "washing" of stamps, before I used mounts, years ago. I still think keeping gum is dangerous, but leave them be now, and put them in mounts. The QE2 5d Looked at over 50, now, I can see no definitive earring change, nor the difference in the preceding "A" in Australia. I'll keep looking, esp in the booklet stamps. |

That Elizabeth St Parcel Office cancel is pretty cool. I guess they don't deal in small dainty letters at that office. I see that you have a single stamp with just "OURNE" on it from the same device. Neat. |
