Hi Rod

An unusual flaw, never saw one like that, I'm going to look around and see if I can locate one.

Here is a flaw mentioned in the ACSC.

ACSC 175B) 1937. Sesquicentenary of New South Wales. 2d. Type B.Perforation 13½ x 14. C of A watermark. Scarlet

This is Type B, there is an extension of the inner frame at the lower left corner, occasionally reaching the outer frame.

What I have so far, there are a few more to collect.

ACSC 175A) 1937. Sesquicentenary of New South Wales. 2d. Type A. Perforation 13½ x 14. C of A watermark. Scarlet
ACSC 175B) 1937. Sesquicentenary of New South Wales. 2d. Type B. Perforation 13½ x 14. C of A watermark. Scarlet
ACSC 176) 1937. Sesquicentenary of New South Wales. 3d. Perforation 13½ x 14. C of A watermark. Blue
ACSC 177) 1937. Sesquicentenary of New South Wales. 9d. Perforation 13½ x 14. C of A watermark. Purple

Rob:

Is the example Of the NSW Sequicentenary really Type B? My ACSC has the following to show the difference between Types A and B. It shows that Type A can have the small downward projection while Type B goes horizontally from the inner frame's bottom left corner to the towards the outer left frame.

Frank.

Hi Frank.

Thanks for showing me the info from the ACSC. I have the 2015 issue, so I checked to see if I was incorrect and if there is any changes to the info.

This is from page 6/38, section 6, note 1.

I cannot explain that variety, it isn't listed anywhere in the 2015 edition which is the most recent. I cannot doubt the info you posted, it's there in black and white, yet my book shows the downward variety as the only variety that explains Type B.

I'll have to speak to one of the authors on Monday to sort this little conundrum out.

Rob:

I was very hesitant about sending my last post. My ACSC is about 1996 so I guess they have corrected an error. Well, who can you trust these days. And they have the same comment about the Type B flaw sometimes reaching the outer frame back in 1996.

Frank.

Well Frank, it seems that even the authors who wrote the ACSC cannot get it right sometimes. I'll sort it out on Monday and see which book is correct.

It is a very interesting question that needs to be answered.

Hi Frank

Just spoke to the specialist I know, his brother is one of the authors of the ACSC; he said that the information relating to the 2d 1937 Sesquicentennial of New South Wales in the 1996 edition was incorrect, and that the line going towards the left never existed, only vertically down, it was later corrected.

Indeed.
What I find curious, is the American spelling "color" written by an Australian.
