75 indicates the Scott catalog number of the stamp. The vii indicates a minor variety of the catalog listing. Nomenclature means a system or method of naming things. Which can be a problem if you don't understand how it works! |

So if I understand correctly. it is a used 1 cent stamp normally worth 1 cent. But because of the green spot it is worth 10 cents. (And no, I am not trying to be ironic)

Wert's high resolution zoom of the right side only shows part of the feature. As Renden pointed out, the error occurs across the entire stamp. Perhaps Wert can show some more details for the Community? In any case, I would love to have one of these re-entries in my collection. |

It is also important to note that Canadian Stamps are usually identified by the Unitrade designation. As it stands, Scott and Unitrade agreed on the major numbering convention. So, a Scott 75 can also be found in Unitrade as a 75. However, Unitrade goes further with the minor (and major) varieties. Therefore 75vii can be found in Unitrade, but it will not be found in Scotts. For those interested in Canada, I highly recommend the Unitrade catalog. This, combined with even more detailed searches on http://www.re-entries.com/, can lead to some very neat finds. |

Thanks Wert for the recent scan.....it adds to my knowledge and inspecting my used and dirty cancelled 75 there might be some evidence of re-entry. However do not have the magnification tools you have. Rene
Just found another used 75 in my duplicates book......it is cleaner than the one in Album and no evidence (with my magnification)of any re-entries. |

As Ralph from re-entries.com indicates the left side is not a prevalent because of plate wear. Renden...Buy yourself a USB microscope like me and lots of people have. Robert |
