Take a look at this strange mark on my Scott 190. It appears to be initials in script. "tr"

In an extreme close up, the pixels appear to be the exact same colours as the rest of the stamp. Perhaps some foreign object on the plate or paper during printing that just happens to look like the letters you describe. |

I see another "Wert"-like item. Just to the right and a bit below the 2nd r of Cartier is a short line in the oval frame. Is that there on all of these stamps?

Quote: "Wert"-like items You guys are funny, but maybe that can become a standard saying from now on...very good Peter/Renden...haha I took a colour sample from the stamp colour and the "TR" initials and as you can see the initials on the right has gray tones and the stamp has more green tones...Looks like pen ink..Just my opinion. Robert, I am a flyspecker myself. Did you notice the little line I was referring to?

I love this touch screen laptop I have. I ZOOMED in and what the heck is hanging out his nose? HAHa I did see the mark by the second 'r' in the oval, and IMO, just my opinion, it had to be a piece of fabric or dust the got in the way-- The best part? give this to some young/new collector and get them started with looking for the finer things that aren't on a cell phone---nice picture-- |

I think pen ink would leave some kind of depression in the paper. The nose does look misshapen. The left side (our left side) looks too high.

Hi Wert. I am looking at your response on the Strange mark on Scott #190 post. Would you mind sharing how you are taking the color samples? (Photoshop color picker??) I am thinking it could be used to sample a stamp color chart and set an RGB values data base. It would then be possible to take an individual stamp sample per your example to match the colors accurately. Still a renewed newbie so maybe this already exist. |
